1. How many Magical Towns does Yucatán have?

Until a few months ago, Yucatán had only four Magical Towns: Valladolid and Izamal, which earned this title in 2012, and Maní and Sisal , which joined the tourism program in 2020. 

Currently, Yucatán proudly has seven Magical Towns in total. In June 2023, thanks to their ability to captivate visitors with their history, architecture, and unique atmosphere, the Secretary of Tourism added Espita, Motul, and Tekax to the list.

2. What to see in the Magical Towns of Yucatán?

1. Izamal

Known as "The City of Three Cultures" for its pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern features, Izamal has become one of the state's most popular destinations. Many travelers find its colonial architecture, yellow corridors, and Mayan ruins the perfect place to connect with the region's culture and history.

4. Maní

Other must-see attractions are the Santa Teresa Kancabá Hacienda and the Ek Balam archaeological site, a former major Mayan capital.

6. Motul

Besides its cultural wealth, it hosts several colonial treasures, including the Felipe Carrillo Puerto Museum, its multiple ex-haciendas , or the José María Campos Park, also known as the town’s heart.

But that’s not all, Motul is also a feast for the senses. It’s famous for its signature dish, huevos motuleños. You can't miss trying them!

7. Tekax
